Toad's Place Hit With Five Day Liquor License Suspension
NEW HAVEN (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The well-known New Haven nightclub Toad's Place had its liquor license suspended yet again after a pair of incidents with underage drinking at the venue.
The suspension is set to take place from August 1 and August 5, based on a compromise between the Department of Consumer Protection and Toad's permittee James Torello the Hartford Courant reported.
The suspension was issued following two incidents in October 2010. The first incident, which took place on October 2nd when New Haven Police and DCP Liquor Agents inspected the venue and discovered two 19-year-old teens who'd been served with alcohol. The second incident occurred on October 8th when police at at Southern Connecticut State University reported that a 20-year-old student had admitted to drinking at the venue.
Toad's will be shuttered during the suspension and will also be slapped with a $5,000 fine.
This isn't Toad's first brush with liquor enforcement. In 2007, the famous club was hit with a $90,000 fine and shuttered for a 90 day stretch from May to August after a police raid in 2005 discovered 142 minors on the premises, combined with another infraction from earlier in the year. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
