BIOGRAPHY
Sarah Michelle Gellar is a renowned American actress, born in New York, on April 14, 1977. The only child of the marriage formed by Arthur and Rosellen Gellar, a businessman and a teacher, Sarah grew up on the Upper East Side, with her mother, after their divorce, in 1984. While having dinner with her mother at a restaurant, Sarah was discovered by an agent, who was sure she would be perfect for the cameras.
Although her mother was not convinced, Sarah convinced her to take her to audition for a television movie, which would be her debut, An Invasion of Privacy (1983). Shortly after, she would work on the films The Other Side of Brooklyn (1984) and Melanie Rose (1989), as well as the series A Woman Called Jackie (1991) and Swans Crossing (1992). Sarah studied acting at the Professional Children’s School in New York and, later, at the Fiorello La Guardia High School of Music Art and the Performing Arts.
She landed her most recognized and popular role at age 19, when she was cast in the television version of a mediocre vampire film, Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1996-2003), in the title role. The series, unlike the film, became one of the favorites of the 90s, covering all types of audiences. For her role, which she played over 8 years and 145 episodes, Sarah was nominated for several awards, winning some of them, such as the Saturn Award, the Teen Choice Award, the SFX Award, among others. Along with the role of Buffy, Michelle is remembered for bringing Daphe to life in the film adaptation of the animated cartoon, Scooby Doo.
As one of the most popular figures of the 90s, Sarah achieved her greatest successes in film, participating in films such as I Know What They Did Last Summer (1997), Scream 2 (1997), Sex Games (1999), Scooby-Doo (2002), The Curse (2006), Southland Tales (2006), The Return (2006), Possession (2008) and Veronika Decides to Die (2009).
In recent years, the actress has shone again on television, in series such as Ringer (2011), The Crazy Ones (2013), in addition to providing her voice for the series Star Wars Rebels (2015) and Robot Chicken (2005-2018). .
