PNC Park to operate at full capacity by July 1

PITTSBURGH (WJAC) — The Pittsburgh Pirates announced their plan Tuesday to open PNC Park to full capacity by July 1st, according to a team release.

The team says they plan to begin lifting all seating restrictions, over the course of the next few weeks, in order to make every seat available by the Pirates' July 4th weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pittsburgh says the process will take place in two phases:

Phase 1: All 12 home games from Thursday, June 3, through Wednesday, June 23, will operate with an approximate three-foot social distancing between seating allotments. This will result in an increase in ballpark capacity of approximately 55% capacity.
Phase 2: Beginning Thursday, July 1, PNC Park will operate at full capacity with all seating restrictions lifted.

The team says all tickets for the remainder of the season will go on sale Wednesday, May 26th, at 10 a.m.

Tuesday's decision also comes on the heels of the team's announcement that they will be lifting their mask rule for fully vaccinated fans.
