PNC Park to operate at full capacity by July 1

The Pittsburgh Pirates announced their plan Tuesday to open PNC Park to full capacity by July 1st, according to a team release.

The team says they plan to begin lifting all seating restrictions, over the course of the next few weeks, in order to make every seat available by the Pirates' July 4th weekend series against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Pittsburgh says the process will take place in two phases:

We are incredibly excited to continue the process of opening PNC Park up to more fans and taking the next important steps toward operating PNC Park at full capacity,” said Pirates President Travis Williams. “Summer in Pittsburgh is about enjoying time with friends and family at the ballpark. With the easing of restrictions, this is the perfect time to begin opening the ballpark without limitations and offer the perfect venue to come back together as a community.

The team says all tickets for the remainder of the season will go on sale Wednesday, May 26th, at 10 a.m.

Fans can purchase tickets online at Pirates.com/tickets, via the MLB Ballpark app or by calling 1-800-BUY-BUCS.

Tuesday's decision also comes on the heels of the team's announcement that they will be lifting their mask rule for fully vaccinated fans.
