Morrissey Cancels Show After Mid-Concert Walk-Off

TUCSON, AZ (CelebrityAccess) — Former Smiths front man Morrissey walked off stage mid-concert due to apparent vocal issues.

Morrissey was six songs into his set at the Fox Tucson Theatre on Monday night when he abruptly walked off stage during “Everyday Is Like Sunday,” the Arizona Daily Star reported. A few minutes later, a member of his band told the audience:

“His voice is shot. You heard it, you heard it. He’s been trying, trying really hard. He came out, he tried. His voice is really shot. We’re sorry. He’s sorry. You know he tried.”

Morrissey himself had alluded to voice troubles earlier in the day in a video published on Madchester where he said: “I left part of my mouth in Guadalajara. But I will stand here, I will sing, and, if necessary, I will drop dead.”

Morrissey and his band are fulfilling a series of dates that were rescheduled last year after his keyboardist Gustavo Manzur suffered serious health issues, prompting the group to postpone a string of dates.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, Fox Tucson Theatre Executive Director Craig Sumberg on Tuesday said they were negotiating with managers for Morrissey about possibly rescheduling the concert or giving refunds.

Morrissey's next scheduled show was set for the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in Antonio on Wednesday night but that was canceled as well, with no reschedule in the offing. Moz's show scheduled for Friday at the White Oak Music Hall in Houston is still a go at the time of publication. – Staff Writers
