Lila's wedding dress - General Hospital

I was looking forward to seeing Brooklynn in that dress. I’m sad it’s too fragile to alter, but it is supposed to be very old. Some of it was salvageable, and I’m hoping they keep the feel of the original as much as possible.

I really don’t understand why they had to say her dress wasn’t able to be adjusted. Tracy and Brook Lynn had a beautiful scene where Tracy said it was meant to be shared. I was in tears. I think even the actors were in tears.

Why change it?

I am quite disappointed by it. Obviously, the actress couldn’t really fit into that teeny dress, so if that was the issue then just make a duplicate one and say it was the adjusted dress.

To me, that just negated the whole scene they did which was basically dedicated to Lila.

Big fail, IMO!!

I think it was their excuse to “modernize” it some. Heartbreaking. That dress is like a legacy character. I’m going to throw something through my TV if she comes out in a strapless A line or mermaid.

Sounds like they made a last change as a request from the network or something to keep it young and hip…how sad and what a waste of a scene!!

I agree folks. I was thrilled when she was going to wear Lila’s dress. Such a touching scene. Now, with the rewrite it’s unsalvageable? Ugh.
Hopefully they can take something from it, even the veil. I just don’t see the point of writing such a beautiful scene and then scrapping it. :disappointed:

My niece took parts of her mom’s dress and fashioned it into something pretty by blending vintage and modern.

I bet that was really beautiful

I know BLQ admires Lila but for crying out loud don’t burden the young people to adhere to the ancient customs. A bride should be able to feel beautiful

She WANTED to wear the dress. She was heartbroken when Tracy, at first, said she wasn’t sure where it was being stored.

Yes it was , the seamstress did a beautiful job.

I have sewn for many years and knew there was going to be an issue with the alternations of the dress the moment the dress came into the picture. There would not be enough material at the sides to make it fit Brook Lynn or something else would be wrong. I’m very disappointed a duplicate dress couldn’t be made of the original and altered a little to make it basically a copy of Lila’s dress with a little touch of something Brook Lynn added to it.

She WANTED to wear the dress.

Tracy wanted to wear that dress. Lois apparently did wear the dress 30 years ago. Most people gain weight over the years so it’s doubtful that she is the same size as she was 30 years ago.

Based on looking at Tracy’s and Lois’s size vs Brooklyn’s size, there was no way that Brooklyn would have been able to fit into that dress without major alterations being done. She isn’t fat but she isn’t a size zero.

I’ve done my share of alterations. Unless you have major seam allowances you can’t let out a dress unless you Frankenstein the dress and add panels, which would be difficult to do given the age of the dress because you’re not likely to find the same fabric or the same colour of fabric.

So regardless of whether the fabric was too fragile to alter makes no difference. It’s doubtful it could have been altered enough to fit Brooklyn.

Well I don’t think we’ve ever seen a picture of Lila in the dress so we don’t know her size at the time of wearing it. Based on my memory Lois was actually bigger when she wore it than she is now. I don’t think the writers ever had any intention of Brook Lynn wearing the dress as it was. That’s why they had Tracy tell her to make any alterations she wants. I think the new dress will be made to fit both Brook Lynn’s size and her style preference and there will be one repurposed item that came from Lila’s dress. I hope it’s stunning!

Exact my point I was making without going into body size detail or alternation details. I figured if I did, posters would be upset saying things like body shaming or criticism of an actors shape. The bottom line is that the dress was made to fit Lila’s shape first. Lois wore it second, with or without slight alternations to make it fit her and the dress now cannot be correctly altered or adjusted to fit Brook Lynn plus it is not in good shape any longer. I’m interested in seeing what part of the dress can be used into another dress. Actually the Q’s have so much money, why not pay big bucks to have a copy made for her to wear? I bet the original design of the dress would look old and unattractive on Brook Lynn. It’s her wedding. She’s the bell of the ball and she wants a beautiful day in a beautiful dress.

I just hope it isn’t that disaster that they had her try on.

I hope it’s the sleeves that are salvageable, and they are the most iconic part of the dress.

I hope they do something soon with the dress, it’s getting repetitious about Lila’s wedding dress. I will also be glad when the wedding is over.

Too bad Chloe Morgan has been dead for 20+ years. She could’ve designed BLQs dress as a reimagining of Lila’s.

It was pretty obvious that this actress was to big to wear it so I don’t have a problem with it. This is something that could happen in real life.

She was so boring and that psychic story she had was not exactly thrilling either!
