Fugitive wanted for assaulting Philadelphia police officer, authorities say
PHILADELPHIA (TND) — A $5,000 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a fugitive who assaulted an off-duty Philadelphia police officer, authorities announced Monday.
The U.S. Marshals Service Philadelphia said multiple agencies are searching for 38-year-old Arthur Jones.
“A fugitive who has been charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer becomes a priority case for this task force. We are hoping the public can provide information which will expedite bringing a dangerous individual to justice,” said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Robert Clark said in a news release.
Clark said a warrant for aggravated assault, robbery, and gun possession was issued by the Philadelphia Police Department on Tuesday for Jones’ role in the assault. He added Jones is armed and dangerous.
"The U.S. Marshals Service and Philadelphia Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 are each offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to Jones arrest," Clark said. "The $5,000 reward will be processed immediately upon arrest and not upon conviction."
Clark said Jones is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and has a tattoo of dice on his left forearm.
Anyone who has information about Jones or his whereabouts was urged contact the U.S. Marshals Philadelphia Tipline at 1-866-865-TIPS(8477) or at usmarshals.gov.
