Frances Cobain Takes Over Publicity Rights For Kurt Cobain's Image
LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — Courtney Love's daughter Frances Bean Cobain has reportedly assumed control over the publicity rights of her father, the late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain
According to sealed documents obtained by The Fix, the rights obtained by Francis Cobain include control over Kurt Cobain's name, likeness and appearance. The Fix reports that the documents also reveal that Courtney Love has agreed to step down as the acting manager of End of Music LLC, the corporation that manages the rights as a part of a $2.75 million from Frances' trust fund in 2010.
Love and her daughter Frances have been estranged since 2009 after Frances obtained a restraining order against Love, citing drug abuse, violence and the death of two pets. Subsequently, Love has also ceded control over her daughter's trust fund.
Love's connection with Cobain's estate is dwindling. She sold a 25% stake in Nirvana's catalog in 2005 for $50 million and has been reportedly weighing a subsequent offer of $162 million for the remainder. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
