Fairfield's Jewish Home Celebrates 40 Years With New Name

Publish date: 2024-10-01

“The name Jewish Senior Services reflects that we are much more than a nursing home,” President and CEO Andrew Banoff said in a press release. “Providing the best healthcare for seniors – wherever and whenever they need our services – remains our top priority.”

The company started as a nursing home and still maintains that service today. U.S. News and World Report named it one of its “Best Nursing Homes in the U.S.” in 2013.

But over the last several years, Jewish Senior Services has added more programs. It now runs adult day programs for seniors at Grasmere by the Sea on the Post Road. It also runs a home care program, which offers both medical and non-medical help for homebound seniors.

“All of our programs are reflections of the changing needs of the community and what seniors have told us they want: more care in their homes and communities, with the same great care and service they have come to expect from The Jewish Home,” Banoff said.

The organization’s programs also now go beyond serving the elderly alone. The main campus also includes a preschool for kids ranging from 6 weeks old to prekindergarten. And Jewish Senior Services has taken on physical therapists to run short-term rehabilitation and therapy via both outpatient and in-home programs for patients of all ages.

Jewish Senior Services celebrated its 40th anniversary Tuesday with a special ceremony with local leaders. As part of its celebration, the organization has also planned special events throughout the summer with The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts and the Friends of Israel Scouts’ Tzofim Friendship Caravan.
