Coroner IDs victims of fatal multi-vehicle crash that shut down Route 322

The Centre County coroner's office has identified the victims of Wednesday's multi-vehicle crash that shut down a section of Route 322, near Port Matilda, for several hours.

Authorities say 61-year-old Craig Hockinson, of Port Matilda, and 35-year-old Heather Ryder, of Philipsburg, were killed when their vehicles collided, head-on, along the 2400 block of Port Matilda Highway in Rush Township.

Police say the driver of a third vehicle was unable to avoid a collision and was injured in the crash.

State police and the coroner's office are investigating the cause of the fatal crash.

State police say two people are dead following a three-vehicle crash along the 2400 block of Port Matilda Highway (Route 322) in Centre County.

Officials say the initial crash involved a head-on collision between two vehicles and that both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities say a third vehicle was unable to avoid the collision and the driver was injured, although the extent of those injuries is unknown at this time.

No further details are being released at this time as officials are working to notify the victims' next-of-kin.

Route 322, from Black Moshannon Road to the I-99 south Altoona/Port Matilda exit, remains closed at this time.

The Centre County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash Wednesday.

Emergency officials say the crash happened on the 2400 block of Port Matilda Highway, US 322, around 2:30 p.m. near Thompson's curve.

Officials say Philipsburg Fire Department, Moshannon Valley EMS and Port Matilda responded along with State College.
