Britney Spears Reacts to Jamie Lynn on Dancing With the Stars Season 32

Ever since her younger sister was announced as a celebrity contestant on DWTS, fans have waited for Britney Spears’ reaction to Jamie Lynn Spears joining Dancing With the Stars Season 32. Now, we have our answer.

In a since-deleted post on December 10, 2023, Britney shared an Instagram photo of Jamie Lynn on Dancing With the Stars with her professional dancer partner, Alan Bersten. Britney captioned the post, “I’m so proud of my sister !!! She did so good on Dancing With The Stars ⭐️.” Though Britney deleted the Instagram hours after posting it, a source told Page Six at the time that the sisters have reconciled their relationship after years of drama. “They are speaking,” the insider said. Jamie Lynn and Alan were sent home in Week 2 on Dancing With the Stars Season 32, and returned for the finale with the rest of the cast.

Prior to their reconciliation, a source told Entertainment Tonight on September 18, 2023, that Britney, who is 10 years older than Jamie Lynn, wasn’t  “thrilled” about her younger sister competing on Dancing With the Stars Season 32. “Britney isn’t thrilled about Jamie Lynn doing Dancing With the Stars. She feels like it’s bad timing, especially with the current situation she’s dealing with in her split with Sam,” the insider said. “She feels continuously disappointed by her family, and it definitely stings. She doesn’t plan to watch Jamie Lynn on the show, and their relationship is strained.”

Jamie Lynn, an actress and singer best known for starring in shows like Zoey 101 and Sweet Magnolias, was announced as a contestant on Dancing With the Stars Season 32 on Good Morning America on September 12, 2023. She was paired with professional dancer Alan Berstein.”I don’t know if one can ever be 100% ready to take on something this big; I didn’t realize what a commitment it is, but it definitely is. I’m ready to challenge myself,” Jamie Lynn said on Good Morning America.

When asked if Britney inspired her to join Dancing With the Stars, Jamie Lynn — who is a mother to two daughters, Maddie, 15, and Ivey Joan, 5 — avoided the question and told Good Morning America, “My 15 year old actually was very motivated for me to do this, which was actually very surprising.” She continued. “My 15-year-old was like, ‘You’re going to dance on TV? What are you doing mom?’ But she was like, ‘Mom, you have to do it.’ She’s an athlete so I think she wants to see me kind of push myself.”

She continued, “Typically I’d be working on different ventures but I think it’s just important that I have this opportunity. And if I get up there and even if I embarrass myself, I’m doing it for a good reason and hopefully giving back to the community that’s literally given back to me since I was a little girl.”

Jamie Lynn also revealed on Good Morning America that she planned to donate her weekly earnings from Dancing with the Stars to the SAG-AFTRA and AGA amid their ongoing strikes. “While everybody else in my community is on strike, I have this unique opportunity where I was offered a chance to work when my community cannot work. So I figured I’ll do this and I will donate my weekly salary… to just give back to them at a time where they can’t give back to themselves,” she said.

Britney and Jamie Lynn have have been involved in a public feud since the start of the #FreeBritney movement in 2021, which led to the end of Britney’s 13-year conservatorship in 2022. In 2021, Britney slammed Jamie Lynn in an Instagram post for performing a medley of Britney’s songs at Radio Disney Music Awards in 2017 without Britney’s blessing. “I don’t like that my sister showed up at an awards show and performed MY SONGS to remixes !!!!!” Britney captioned the post. “My so-called support system hurt me deeply !!!! This conservatorship killed my dreams … so all I have is hope and hope is the only thing in this world that is very hard to kill … yet people still try !!!!”

Jamie Lynn gave an update to her relationship with Britney in an interview with with Variety in 2023, in which she hinted that her and Britney’s relationship is still strained. “I have nothing but absolute love for every single one of my family members,” Jamie Lynn said, seemingly dodging questions about her relationship with Britney today. “If I learned anything from last year, being so open and feeling like I had to defend myself at times, I don’t feel like there’s anything else that I need to say.”

She continued, “I just have to leave it where it is because those conversations are meant to be personal. All I can focus on now is my girls, my husband and the work that I’m doing.”

As for where Britney and Jamie Lynn stand now, Jamie Lynn told Good Morning America after she was announced as a cast member on Dancing With the Stars that she was excited to form a “new family” with her cast mates. “I can’t wait to make a whole new family and bond through this. I think that’s going to be a very big part of it,” she said.
